Reflexology - What to Expect
On your first visit a confidential medical and lifestyle history
is taken and attention is given to what you eat, how you live
and what your needs are. Each session takes approximately an
hour, although the time and type of treatment varies to suit
each person’s specific needs. As it is the feet that is generally
treated you simply remove your shoes and socks. A course of
treatments may be recommended depending on your body’s needs. Where appropriate
the therapist can work in conjunction with your medical practitioner.
How will I feel after a session?
In order to gain the maximum benefit for your health, try to rest and take things easy over the 24 hours following your session as your body adjusts to the new equilibrium. Drink some extra water (preferably warm and not carbonated) as this helps flush the toxins out of your system thereby aiding the healing process.
After one or two sessions your body may respond in a very definite way. Most people note a sense of deep relaxation and renewed vitality; sometimes people report initially feeling lethargic, nauseous or tearful, but this is transitory and part of the healing process and is your body’s way of releasing and clearing toxins. You may notice a difference in your urine colour (darker) or bowel movements (more frequent) for a day or so after your session.
This is vital information and should be mentioned on your next visit as it shows how your body is responding to the treatment. This information will help to tailor the next session specific to your needs.
With all natural healing therapies the effects are cumulative and many people find it beneficial to have regular treatments to protect and maintain optimum health and well-being.
Listen to your body and trust your instinct.
